Arsenal and Manchester United are eyeing a shock raid on Chelsea to sign out-of-favour midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer, according to RMC Sport.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea in 2017 but failed to establish himself during his first season in England as he struggled to replicate the kind of form he showed at Monaco that earned him a big-money move to Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old was sent out on loan to AC Milan last season and he enjoyed a solid 12 months in Italy having made 42 appearances in all competitions but the San Siro giants are yet to agree a deal with Chelsea to make his move permanent.
Bakayoko is now back at pre-season training with the Blues and is expected to meet with new boss Frank Lampard before making a final decision on his future but it seems he’s attracted interest from two of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals.
RMC Sport claims Arsenal have expressed their interest in Bakayoko with Unai Emery believed to be a big fan of the French international’s. The Arsenal boss is in need of midfield reinforcements after losing Aaron Ramsey and it appears Bakayoko is on his radar.
However, the French outlet also claims Manchester United have made contact with Chelsea to discuss a potential deal for Bakayoko with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyeing him as a possible addition to his new-look squad.
United are looking to overhaul their midfield as Ander Herrera has left the club, Nemanja Matic’s future is in doubt while Paul Pogba is trying to force a move away from Old Trafford so Solskjaer needs to sign a couple of midfielders and Bakayoko is seemingly a target.
However, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be willing to do business with their domestic rivals and RMC Sport claims PSG are also keen on Bakayoko so no doubt the Blues would rather sell the midfielder to the Ligue 1 champions.
