Arsene Wenger has endorsed the idea of Aaron Ramsey taking over the Arsenal captaincy role in the near future.
The Welshman moved to the Emirates stadium from Cardiff City during the summer of 2008 after turning down an offer from Manchester United.
Ramsey’s career in north London has been a roller-coaster one with frequent injuries troubling his progress over the years.
However, the 26-year-old is gradually embracing his new role in midfield alongside Granit Xhaka after previously being criticised for his lack of tactical discipline.
And that has seen him receive the backing of Wenger who believes he has what it takes to become an Arsenal captain in the near future.
“Why not? It is all there.” the Arsenal manager said at the press-conference
“He has maturity, has improved technically and is more conscious of the importance of his technical qualities.
“His game is clean. He has a huge physical power.
“The target for him will be to have 30 games.”
