Something went wrong.
A heartbroken young woman is understood to have taken her own life hours after her boyfriend was run-over and killed by a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver.
Rugby player Jason Francis, 29, tragically died after being mowed down just yards from his door after a boozy night out with pals in Australia on Saturday.
His devastated girlfriend of eight years Alice Robinson “couldn’t live without” him, according to her devastated family.
Robinson’s heartbroken mother, Dawn, wrote on social media: “I am devastated to let everyone know that my beautiful daughter was so distraught she could not bear to live without her beloved Jase and chose to take her own life.”
Robinson was found dead in “non-suspicious circumstances” hours after looking out the window and seeing the aftermath of her boyfriend’s tragic crash.
Dawn’s emotional tribute continued: “My husband and I now grieve for the loss of two wonderful people that brought light to everyone’s life.”
“RIP my gorgeous girlie.”
The young couple moved to Australia from England less than a year ago.
They had been together for nearly a decade and only had each other, according to their pals, as both their families lived overseas.
When Francis was hit, cops said the driver, 18, stopped and immediately phoned the police on Saturday evening.
Medics battled to save the 29-year-old but he later died in Royal Perth Hospital.
Francis’ partner only realized that tragedy had struck after seeing emergency services outside her house, according to reports.
It is believed the teenage pizza delivery driver did not see Francis lying on the road until it was too late.
No arrests have been made and the car – a Volkswagon Jetta – is being examined by cops.
Friends who were drinking with Francis at a house on Saturday said they had put him in a taxi home.
Domino’s said the employee was returning to pick up another pizza order when Francis was struck at about 8:00 p.m.
A spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the victim involved and we remain focused on the health and wellbeing of the driver.”
Francis, known to pals as Franner, is believed to have moved to Australia with his partner less than a year ago after they traveled the world together.
A life-long soccer player, Francis had played for conference side Market Drayton Town FC in England.
A tribute on the club’s website read: “All at MDTFC are devastated to announce the tragic news from Australia that former player Jason Francis has died.”
“Jason will be well known to everyone at MDTFC for his power house displays during the glorious years of our fantastic journey through the Leagues; also for being such a great person.”
It added: “Our thoughts and deepest sympathy goes out to Jason’s family and friends and everyone who has been touched by this fine young man.”
“A very sad day indeed.”
Club Captain Paul McMullen said: “You young man were such a fine piece of our puzzle at MDTFC during our success and it was a pleasure to be part of it playing along side of you.”
Heartbreaking tributes described him as a “top lad” and “one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.”
