Taylor Swift has released her next Lover song. The track, “The Archer,” was produced by Jack Antonoff, who worked on several reputation songs, including “Look What You Made Me Do” and “New Year’s Day.” Listen below. “The Archer” arrived in the middle of Swift’s Instagram live session today, in which she said that it’s the fifth track on Lover. She also explained her tradition of putting the most “honest, emotional, vulnerable, and personal” songs in that slot because her fans started to notice a pattern within her earlier albums. Referring to “The Archer,” she said, “That has definitely happened on the case of track five on this album Lover.” Elsewhere in the live session, she announced that Lover will arrive with four deluxe editions, featuring scans of her real life journals. Lover is out August 23 (via Republic). It includes the singles “ME!” and “You Need to Calm Down.” The visual for the latter has been nominated for Video of the Year at the 2019 VMAs. “The Archer” arrived in the middle of Swift’s Instagram live session today, in which she said that it’s the fifth track on Lover.
