GAME OF THRONES fans have been crafting theories over who could possibly become the rightful ruler of Westeros in the upcoming final episodes of the show – and one viewer has a solid theory.

Game of Thrones has come a long way since its first two seasons which mainly focussed on which house should take the throne.

Since then complications have arisen and overtaken the intricate plots in the show, and the true leader debate has been left by the wayside.

Fans, however, have not given up the discussion, and are still involved in furious debates over who will be seen on the Iron Throne in the show’s last moments.

One fan in particular has now laid out their theory over why Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) will not become the final ruler of the country.

Daenerys has built her power and notoriety in leaps and bounds throughout seasons one-to-seven.

And just as it looked as if the mother of dragons had accumulated enough power, she struck up a deal with Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and garnered some followers from Westeros.

As she looks like the most likely candidate to take over the country, the fan theory suggests that if she were to claim control, she would produce a new generation of evil Targaryens.

Daenerys’ father Aerys Targaryen (David Rintoul) is famously known as “The Mad King” after he went on a killing spree.

The fan’s theory pins this on a Targaryen trait called The Targaryen Sickness.

They explained: “In the Game of Thrones Targaryens carry a disease within them – it’s called Targaryen sickness.

“That is: one generation of Targaryens may be extremely benevolent and kind, but the next generation would end up being the worst tyrants and insane monarchs.”

He then went on to list the famously evil Targaryen lords, including Aerys, Aerion, Rhaegal, Baelor, and Maegor.

And they continued: “A lot of other Targaryen rulers were tyrants and cruel. They committed genocides and cruelties on a massive scale.

“This phenomenon… is due to their inbreeding and incest.

“Some end up like the mad king. some end up like a benevolent ruler.

“For these reasons, its not feasible for iron throne to be still ruled by a Targaryen.”

This leaves the Starks without any real claim to the throne while the Lannisters are fighting to defend it.

Meanwhile Gendry (Joe Dempsie) still sits with perhaps the most viable claim to the throne.

But as his bond with Deanerys’ new beau Jon grows, will he be able to overthrow Daenerys?

Or will he succumb to her strength and eventually lose his battle as well, just as his father did?
