Arsenal confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan was ruled out of their clash with Manchester United with a minor back problem.
Mkhitaryan started Arsenal’s last seven matches in all competitions – and played the full 90 minutes versus Rennes on Thursday night – but will play no part against former club United and the return leg fixture against the French side.
The Armenian midfielder will have been desperate to impress on Sunday afternoon following an underwhelming one-and-a-half year spell with United.
Unai Emery opted for an ultra-offensive line-up at the Emirates, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey all selected in attack against the Red Devils.
The Gunners bounced back from their thumping 3-1 defeat to Rennes with a victory over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s in-form side.
‘Micki misses #ARSMUN with a slight back issue,’ Arsenal’s official Twitter account tweeted ahead of kick-off. ‘Wishing you a speedy recovery!’
