– A new report indicates that some Nigerian states may face food crises in 2018
– Nigeria’s federal government said the report will assist government to take the necessary steps to address food crisis and emergency situation in the country
– The report was put together by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), the National Programme for Food Security (NPFS) and other donor agencies

Nigeria may face food crises in 2018 according to a report by food security stakeholders. The report projected that about 4.8 million Nigerians may face critical food insecurity situations in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in 2018.
While analysing the in a stakeholder meeting on Friday, November 3 in Abuja, Sufyyan Koroma, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Country Representative, said it has become necessary to provide reliable data on food security status in 16 states and FCT, Daily Trust reports. On the part of the federal government, Dr Bukar Hassan, the permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the report will assist government to take the necessary steps to address food crisis and emergency situation in the country.
Here is a list of states that may be affected by the food crises according to the report. 1. Adamawa 2. Bauchi 3. Benue 4. Borno 5. Gombe 6. Jigawa 7. Kaduna 8. Kano 9. Katsina 10. Kebbi 11. Niger 12. Plateau 13. Sokoto 14. Taraba 15. Yobe 16. Zamfara FCT The report was put together by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), the National Programme for Food Security (NPFS) and other donor agencies.
