Manchester City Player Salaries 2017-18 (Bonus related contracts revealed)

Manchester City has installed a wage system with much more emphasis on bonus related contracts since 2014 and that has helped the club to reduce its wage bill from record £216 million in 2013-14 season to £198m in 2016-17 season. With the arrival of Pep Guardiola Manchester City has yet again break the bank in transfer window and brought in several high profile players. Below is the entire Man City squad contracts and new transfer details.

Manchester City spent big in 2016 summer transfer window and they did just the same bringing another expensive 6 players and let go some of the older ones in the squad. Benjamin Mendy become the most expensive defender in history when he joined City from Monaco for around £51.75 million while City also bought Kyle Walker, Bernando Silva, Danilo and Ederson to balance their defense. 

Manchester City New Transfers: here are some of the numbers on how Man City spent more than £200 million in summer transfer window.

  1. Benjamin Mendy (£51.7m from Monaco)
  2. Kyle Walker (£45.9m from Tottenham)
  3. Bernando Silva (£45 from Monaco)
  4. Ederson (£36m from Benfica)
  5. Danilo (£27m from Real Madrid)
  6. Douglas Luiz (£10.8m from Vasco da Gama)

City also let go Kelechi Iheanacho, Enes Ünal,  Aaron Mooy, Nolito, Fernando, Olivier Ntcham, Aleksandar Kolarov Joe Hart (loan)  and Pablo Zabaleta and brought in around £60 million from the sales.

New bonus based contracts:

Since 2014 Mancherster City have been operating on a unique bonus/incentive based contracts for their squads and even the big name players like Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, and Joe Hart all agreed for incentive based contracts. All the players accepted the reduced basic salary but high performance based bonuses and incentives. FIFA financial fair play rule has forced City to kind of change their spending and that is visible in the recently leaked salary details of full team squad.

The following numbers only include the basic weekly salaries of the players but main players in the team enjoy lucrative performance based bonuses for example Aguero signed a new 5 year deal in 2014 with the basic salary of £165,000 a week but it can reach upto £220,000 a week with performance bonuses included.
